Balcony has nice view of the Capitol Reef ... a section of it.
Upon arrival we owed a balance but this was not disclosed and I had simply forgotten, partly my fault. However we were told that there is a $50/day incidental charge. I travel often and assumed that this would hold in my bank as pending... It did not. A full $150 was taken out for our three day vacation. I was VERY UPSET! I had given the staff my debit card which was mainly for spending money. Now I was out $150 until I checked out. I went back down and told them to reverse the transaction and put it on a credit card to make it easier, they said they did. They DID NOT.
Breakfast is average, nothing special.
Nice big room, great location. Would have happily given it four stars IF I'd had a room with a view. The views are GREAT. Most rooms have them. Call ahead to make sure you get one of the good ones!
We have been home 24 hours now and I still don't have my $150 back which has caused problems with automatic bill pays, etc. I had to go into my investment account to transfer money for the week.
It is a bit pricey compared to other options available around the area... probably because this is the closest to the actual Capitol Reef National Park. Not prohibitively costly. But we could have saved at least a hundred bucks (from two rooms) if we had put up with a little more driving.
Dinner Menu is average.
The resort is in a beautiful place and you can look from your room to the mountains. At night it is quiet. The rooms have a balcony and are big, tidy and clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay!
Also, upon arrival we turned our heat on. Upon coming back from dinner there was no heat, only cold air. They had to bring us a space heater for the night. I would think that should be checked before someone checks in.
Room is OK... nothing great to say about it.
There were no discounts offered or anything for our troubles.
We came to the park during off season and the room rates were fantastic. There isn't much in the town open but not to worry Capitol Reef Resort has a restaurant open for breakfast and dinner. The staff was friendly and you could tell they truly enjoyed their job. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone and I would stay here again.
My husband and I just checked out yesterday. I will start with the positive, the property is beautiful and has awesome views. It is also right in the backyard of Capitol Reef, so that's a plus.
